The Yucatan peninsula is the birthplace of the Mayan culture and also offers the wonderful Caribbean Sea with fantastic beaches. Cancun is the arrival airport but definitely not the place to be. Our tip for you is Isla Holbox, an idyllic, car-free island separated from the mainland by a narrow lagoon with pelicans and flamingo\u2019s. It can be reached after a 2-hour drive and a short ferry crossing from the port town of Chiquila. Here you will only find boutique hotels such as Villas Flamingos<\/a> with a wonderful swimming pool on the beach and Casa Las Tortugas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A journey through Yucatan leads past the most beautiful colonial towns and beautiful temple complexes of the lost civilization of the Maya, among others. Visit the impressive temples of the holy cities of Chichen Itza and Palenque, both a UNESCO monuments. In Yucatan you can spend the night in cozy 19th century haciendas,<\/a> a great experience.<\/p>\n
