\nThe north of Morocco borders the Mediterranean Sea and has many Spanish influences with a Mediterranean character. The west coast, on the other hand, is much quieter and more expansive and here you can enjoy authentic Portuguese harbour towns and unspoilt sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean.
\nThe Imperial cities of Rabat, Meknes and F\u00e8s are much cooler than their sister city Marrakech, which is located further to the south.<\/p>\n

The Imperial cities of Rabat, Meknes and F\u00e8s<\/strong>
\nThe Imperial City of Rabat is located by the sea and is the political and administrative capital of Morocco. The historic walled neighbourhood of Le Kasbah is perched on a rock by the sea and contains picturesque narrow alleyways with white and blue painted houses. Within the castle walls you will find the green Andalusian garden and the Mus\u00e9e des Oudaia. There are two main tourist attractions in the Ville Nouvelle; the impressive mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Archaeological Museum with an extensive collection of unique Roman objects. \u00a0Villa Mandarine<\/a>\u00a0is a lovely place to stay.<\/p>\n

The Imperial City of Meknes was chosen by Sultan Moulya Isma\u00efl in the 17th century, as the new capital of his empire. Beautiful buildings were placed under his care and the city flourished like never before. The Medina is surrounded by 45 km long city walls with beautiful city gates and houses a labyrinth of covered streets with shops and workshops. Outside the city walls there are vineyards where excellent wines are produced.<\/p>\n

F\u00e8s is the oldest Imperial city in Morocco and also an important intellectual, cultural and religious centre. Here traditional crafts are still practiced on a large scale and F\u00e8s is well known in particular for its leather work and refined pottery. The walled medina of F\u00e8s is known as the most authentic in Morocco and consists of countless districts, each with its own Koranic school, mosque, hammam and bakery and souk.

Tip<\/strong>: every year the world music festival of the Musiques Sacr\u00e9es is held in F\u00e8s towards the end of May. South Morocco<\/strong>
\nMore to the southeast lies the impressive Atlas mountains with authentic mountain villages and high mountain peaks. On the south side of the Atlas Mountains begins the pre-Sahara, with brightly coloured green oases of the Draa and Dades rivers in contrast with the dry desert landscape. During the spring you often see the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains in the background. Spring and autumn are particularly suitable for overnight stays in tents in the desert and a wonderful opportunity to spend the night in a desert-camp.<\/p>\n
