Sicily

The island of Sicily has been famous for its beauty since ancient times and has a rich cultural history dating back to the Greeks, Romans and Byzantines. Many rulers from across the entire Mediterranean have left their mark here and over the centuries, their heritage behind. The landscape is varied and there is so much to see and explore such as Mount Etna, the mountainous interior and coastline with picturesque towns and fishing villages. The cuisine is surprisingly tasty and the hotels cozy and charming.
Taormina is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in all of Sicily. The old town, called Monte, with a beautifully location has beautiful vistas. De grandeur of ancient Tauromenion, with its theater, Odeon and the 122m long naumachia, is still tangible. The San Domenico Palace Hotel is housed in a 14th century convent and in the former convent garden there is a swimming pool.
La Plage Resort, lies on a pebble beach and opposite the Isola Bella Island and Nature Reserve, and is a favorite with visitors to the Taormina Film Festival. It has a private beach club and a well-equipped spa.
The Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa lies in a nature reserve with unspoiled beaches about 100km from Catania. It is a good base from which to explore the nearby UNESCO baroque towns of Ragusa and Siracusa. It also features indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach, and two 18-hole golf courses.
