Tanzania: Family Adventure

A unique and special experience for children is a safari trip through Kenya or Tanzania.
To be able to spot all those special animals living in complete freedom in an area of such natural beauty, is an unforgettable experience. Program safari trip
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Today a direct KLM flight will bring you to Arusha. Upon arrival you will be welcomed at the airport by our local representative and transfer will bring you to Moivaro Lodge in about an hour, for your overnight based on bed & breakfast.
Day 2: Arusha
Your lodge is situated in a private coffee plantation just a 15-minute drive from the center of Arusha. It’s an enjoyable place to acclimatize beside the pool or by making daytrips in the surrounding area. For example, it is possible to become more familiar with the traditional lifestyle of the Maasai. In the morning, a village walk is on the program, a culture and nature-walk incl. a visit to the local brewery. After lunch the afternoon is free to spend at the pool or taking a bike ride through the coffee plantations. Dinner and overnight at de Moivaro Lodge.
Day 3: Arusha
After breakfast a visit to Arusha National Park incl. a picnic lunch. Even though the park is quite small, some 52 square kilometers, there is a lot to see. Including a small crater, a rainforest, acacia-woods  and a group of crater lakes. On a clear day there is a wonderful view of Mount Kilimanjaro. There are giraffes, small herds of elephants, buffalo and small predators, not to mention the beautiful black / white Colobus monkeys, living in the park.
There is the possibility to make a walking safari through the park with one of the rangers. Dinner and overnight at Moivaro Lodge.
Day 4: Arusha Tarangire
After breakfast the safari will begin and you will travel by private car and guide to the Tarangire National Park which has an area of ​​1360 km². The beautiful, park-like nature is has a hilly terrain, the deep lying river that almost always has water, the huge baobab trees and yellow acacias, small swamps and palm trees. The wildlife park has a relatively large population of elephants, eland and buffalo. After check in and lunch, the first game drive is on the program. Dinner and overnight at the cozy safari tents overlooking the river.
Day 5: Tarangire-Ngorongoro
Off to the Ngorongoro Crater known as “heritage of the Earth”but also as the 8th wonder of the world, Time to enjoy this unique and protected nature reserve and including a picnic lunch the way.  The crater has a diameter of 19 km and has been declared a World Heritage Site. The area around the volcano is rugged and virtually barren and even for a wildlife virtually unlivable. But in the bottom of the crater there a habitat has originated where many species feel quite at home. There are forests, marshes, a saline lake and savannahs, all in a relatively small area. The Masai let their herds graze here in the midst of lions, antelopes, hippos and rhinos. Towards the end of the afternoon, check in for dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, beautifully situated on the crater rim.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Serengeti
Today departure to the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Remains have been found of supposedly the first man on earth in this almost fifty-kilometer gorge  in the Serengeti. In the small Olduvai Gorge Museum you can see remains and artefacts that have been found. The Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the most famous game park in the world. More than three million animals (35 different species including the Big Five) live on the endless savannas. The Maasai word “siringet” means “endless plains” and is an excellent epithet for this wildlife park. Towards midday you will arrive at the Serena Lodge, where lunch awaits you. During the afternoon you will participate in a game drive, dinner and overnight at the Serena lodge.
Day 7: Serengeti
Time to enjoy the fantastic game drives in the Serengeti. Approximately one and a half million wildebeest and about two hundred thousand zebras make the yearly “Great Trek”. During this annual migration they make up a trail of about 40 to 50 kilometers trail, travelling past their usual predators such as hyenas and jackals. The short rainy season begins around mid-October and this is when the first herds start their migration from the Masai Mara to the green grassy plains of the Serengeti.
Day 8: Serengeti -Lake Manyara
Time to say goodbye to the Serengeti and to drive back eastwards to Lake Manyara. After lunch at the Lake Manyara Seren Lodge a game drive is on the program. The park (325 sq km) has a very diverse landscape of which for the most is occupied by a lake. A  large population of giraffes, elephants, buffaloes and other herbivores live here and the leopards and lions hide preferably in and around the trees. Many different species of birds are found alongside the lakes shore and with a bit of luck you may even see the black eagle.

Day 9: Lake Manyara – Arusha Zanzibar
This morning you will return to Arusha, and a short flight will bring you to the Breezes Beach Club in Zanzibar.
