This southern Mediterranean island is a great place for a holiday during the spring or autumn months when a warmer sun has already started shining. A direct flight from Amsterdam will fly you to Pafos in the southwest, which has many archaeological remains and a rich history. In Roman times it was the capital of the island and according to a legend Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, was born in the waves of the sea here. The Mosaics, the Byzantine Museum, the castle, the rock of Aphrodite and the King’s Tombs Worth are some of the great sites to visit. There is a narrow beach and a picturesque harbour with nice shops and restaurants on the promenade.
