Atlantic Coast

The more than 1000 km long coastline between Tangier and Agadir is still an underdeveloped tourist area but has a lot to offer. The natural environment is varied with lovely historical towns that date from the 15th and 16th centuries, along the coast.
It was mainly the Portuguese who built these fortified towns on the South Atlantic coast actively trading with large ships on their way from Europe to Asia. A quiet road runs alongside the sea leading through green hilly landscapes and wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Fishing is the main source of income and the fishing ports are lively and active. Here you will find the freshest of fish served and where sardines, coming directly from the boat, are grilled in front of you where after they end up on your plate! The sandy beaches are long and wide, and almost empty making them wonderful for beach walks. The further south the journey goes, the more you can recognize the different North African influences.

Tangier
The north of Morocco is a short distance from Europe and it is therefore no wonder that the Spanish influences are most noticeable here. Tangier lies on a cliff by the sea, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar and has inspired many writers, filmmakers and artists. It is a Mediterranean white city with minarets and palm trees. The city is divided into a historic medina with picturesque streets and alleys and a new neighbourhood with interesting museums and beautiful gardens. Of course Tangier also has a lively harbour and outside the centre are beautiful beaches and villas, including the Royal Palace. In addition to a stay in Tangier, it is also possible to make a journey to Tetoaun, Chefchaouen and Asilah. This trip could be made by rental car or with a driver.

Oualidia
Oualidia is located on the Atlantic Coast halfway between Casablanca and Essaouira and the main attraction here is the beautiful beach bordered by dunes. Due to its isolated location, mass tourism has not developed here and Oualidia is therefore particularly suitable for those seeking tranquillity. There is a beautiful lagoon with wonderfully calm bathing water off the coast.

Essaouira
On the beautiful Atlantic south coast lies Essaouira, a charming coastal town with a picturesque fishing port and a walled historic city centre. It was a famous hippie centre In the 70s and Jimmy Hendrix and Mick Jagger really enjoyed their stays here during that time. Essaouira is still known as the meeting place for artists and it is one of the most important centers for modern art.

Agadir
Despite its modern character, the largest seaside resort in Morocco holds a strong number of assets in its hands. Due to its southern location, this is the coastal city has the largest number of sunshine hours measured in Morocco. The main attraction is the beautiful, long, sheltered, sandy beach of 9 km in length.
